胰岛素是1型糖尿病和许多2型糖尿病患者的主要治疗药物，预混胰岛素为短效与中效胰岛素的混合制剂，其既能补充基础胰岛素，又能纠正餐时胰岛素分泌的不足，能够涵盖空腹和餐后血糖的控制。近年来，又出现了速效胰岛素类似物与速效胰岛素类似物鱼精蛋白悬液混合的预混胰岛素类似物，能更好地模拟生理性的胰岛素分泌模式，更有效控制餐后血糖，减少血糖漂移，且餐前即刻注射，患者的依从性好。
