Comparison of various forms of payment for medical expenses

The key to ensuring the efficient use of medical resources and controlling the irrational increase of medical expenses lies in adopting an appropriate form of payment for medical expenses. Through a comparison of the merits and demerits of different forms of payment, including Global Budget, Fee for Service, Service Unit, Capitation, Case-based Reimbursement, and DRGs-PPS, the paper argues that the various forms of payment, adopted in different situations and for different purposes, have their respective advantages and disadvantages. Among them, DRGs-PPS is a form of payment that should be further explored in China.
