Exploration of Evaluation Model for Clinical Pathways

To find a systematic evaluation process is of vital importance for improving the usefulness of clinical pathways. The purpose of this article is to present a five-step evaluation model that can be followed in determining the effectiveness of clinical paths. The steps include planning for evaluation, designing/developing collection and reporting system, collecting data, analysis and report, and evaluating the evaluation. The goal of the evaluation process is to provide reliable information and to translate the information into changes in health care and to make clinical pathways be the powerful tool for improving medical quality.
