The Expresssion of VEGF and IGF-1 in Esophageal Cancer and Its Clinical Significance

Objective To investigate the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)and insulin-like growth factor-1(IGF-1)in serum of patients with esophageal cancer,and its clinical significance.Methods 58 patients with esophageal cancer were selected,40 cases of healthy people were selected as normal controls,the expression levels of VEGF and IGF-1 were determined by ELISA method.Results The expression of VEGF and IGF-1 in esophageal cancer group were(88.2±22.3)pg/ml and(94.3±26.5)ng/ml,and the control group were(14.1±4.6)pg/ml and(21.6±3.5)ng/ml.there were significant differences of VEGF and IGF-1 expression between the two groups(P<0.01).The VEGF and IGF-1 expression were significant related with lymphatic metastasis,histological grade and clinical pathologic stage in esophageal cancer patients(P<0.05).The expression of VEGF was negatively related with IGF-1 in esophageal cancer patients(γ=0.415,P<0.05).Conclusion Abnormal expression of VEGF and IGF-1 indicates that they are related to the occurrence and development of esophageal carcinoma and have certain clinical significance for the combined detection of VEGF and IGF-1.They may be a new molecular marker for esophageal cancer classification and prognosis evaluation,With the value of further research.
