TREATMENT EFFICACY OF RADIOFREQUENCY ABLATION AND SURGICAL RESECTION TO SMALL HEPATOCELLULAR :A META-ANALYSIS

Objective To study Treatment efficacy of radiofrequency ablation and Surgical resection to small hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC). Methods Clinical data of patients with small liver cancer underwent radiofrequency ablation or hepatectomy were collected from computer literature searching ,which was carried out in PubMed、Wanfang and VIP database etc, also performed searching based on www.baidu.com and www.google.com. Meta-analysis that recommended by Cochrane Collaboration was done for the data obtained, that 1639 patients who met with the twelve criteria of enrollment were included in this study. Publication bias was assessed by using a funnel plot. Results 1-, 3-year overall survival rates had no statistically significant difference in RFA group compared with surgical resection group(P>0.05), but sugical resection was more effective to improve 3-year disease-free survival rate than RFA(P<0.05);The incidences postoperative complications of radiofrequency ablation is lower than surgical resection significantly. Conclusion Radiofrequency ablation seems to be as effective as surgical resection owing to comparable overall survival , and the postoperative complications rate is low, RFA can be considered as the first-line treatment of choice for small hepatocellular carcinoma.
