Abstract:Periodontitis is a common frequently-occurring oral disease,which is one of the main causes of loose teeth.Periodontal splint has always been an effective means of fixation of loose teeth.It can connect multiple teeth into a whole,form a"multiple giant teeth",bear the bite force together,effectively disperse the stress of periodontal ligament and alveolar bone,and create favorable conditions for the healing of periodontal tissue.Three-dimensional finite element analysis(FEM)is a biomechanical method to study the stress distribution of complex models.In recent years,it has been widely used in the study of periodontal splints.This method can realistically build a model of the oral tissue structure,assign values to the biomechanical properties of each tissue,and analyze the biomechanical characteristics under different geometric forms,different materials,and different loading conditions.It can provide biomechanical basis for the treatment of loose teeth.This paper reviews the application of 3 D finite element method in different types,materials and periodontal conditions of periodontal splints.
