Reliability and validity issues in social validation research involving persons with developmental disabilities

Social validation procedures have become increasingly important in research involving persons with developmental disabilities. Unfortunately, there has not been a corresponding increase in the methodological rigor in which the social validation approaches have been utilized. This paper addresses reliability and validity issues in social validation research involving persons with developmental disabilities. Suggestions on how to better utilize reliability and validity measures are offered.
