Abstract: | Lympliomatoid granulomatosis, defined on the basis of study of the first 40 patients, is an angiocentric and angiodestructive lymphoreticular proliferative and granulomatous disease involving predominantly the lungs. The infiltrate is polymorphous Nrith varying numbers of cells in mitosis and may contAm atypical, especially plasmacytoid, cells of reticuloendothelial origin, but, remarkably, usually tends to spare lymph nodes, spleen, and bone marrow. Rarely, however, generalized atypical lymphoid hyperplasia may precede the onset of pulmonary lesions, sometimes by many years. The question usually raised is whether the process represents lymphoma or Wegener's granulomatosis. |
