Relationship between Internet Addiction Tendency and Internet Motivation of Graduate Students

Objective To explore the relationship between graduate students＇ internet addiction tendency and internet motivation.Methods A total of 700 graduate students were surveyed by Chinese Internet Addiction Scale-Revised and Internet Use Motivation Scale-College Students.Results The degree of internet addiction tendency in graduate students was more serious.Three factors which including gender（χ2=8.69,P=0.003）,grade（χ2=12.58,P=0.002） and local institution（χ2=7.54,P=0.006） performed significant differences between internet addiction tendency group and non-internet addiction tendency group.The interpersonal emotion motivation performed significant difference between the two groups（t=-7.81,P=0.000）.There was a positive correlation between internet addction tendency and interpersonal emotion motivation（r=0.32,P=0.000）.Conclusions The graduate students who use internet for interpersonal emotion motivation tend to get internet addiction tendency.
