Abstract: | ![]() Literature data concerningthe comorbidity of migraineand hypertension are conflictingand lacking in consistency [1–4].This study was designed to evaluatethe distribution of hypertensionin a sample of migraineurs in comparisonwith a group of tensiontypeheadache (TTH) patients.Hypertension prevalence was moreelevated in headache sufferers thanin the general population. Thisfinding might be due to aBerkson’s bias; in fact individualsseeking medical care often show ahigh rate of association betweentwo medical conditions which maybe independent in the general population[5]. The highest hypertensionprevalence was found inpatients with TTH, supporting thehypothesis that this type ofheadache might be based uponvascular mechanisms [6]. |
