Animal models of Pseudomonas aeruginosa pneumonia

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an opportunistic bacterial pathogen capable of causing severe bacterial pneumonia.In addition to in vitro research,animal models have been largely used in the field of pneumonia.The development of animal models will likely help to define the the pathogenicity of this pathogen in pneumonia and contribute to the development of innovative drugs with new targets.Therefore the aims of this review were to provide an overview of the selection of an appropriate animal species, inoculation routes,and different pneumonia models in the available literature in this field,And to summarize the advantage and limitation of several animal models to provide reference for scientific research.
