Combination of traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine in the treatment of resistant peptic ulcer.

For years, the use of H_2 receptor antagonists (H_2RA) has lowered the recurrence of peptic ulcer (PU), but in some patients, persistent and recurrent PU may result in hemorrhage, perforation, obstruction and cancerafion, which require emergency operation. To find out an effective modality is still important for the treatment of resistant Pu. From 1988 to 1991 we successfully treated 260 patients with resistent PU using local injection of traditional Chinese medicines plus oral administration of Chuanjiaweidan.
