Abstract: | The location of the superior salivatory nucleus and terminal labelings of the hypothalamic descending fibers were demonstrated in the nucleus reticularis parvocellularis using HRP and the autoradiographic techniques, respectively. When both techniques were used in the same animals, some HRP-labeled neurons were seen among the accumulations of silver grains, suggesting pericellular terminations. The present study demonstrates that the hypothalamic efferents project directly to the superior salivatory nucleus innervating salivary and lacrimal glands. |
