The characteristics of echocardiography in male patients with coronary heart disease complicated with syphilis

Objective To investigate the characteristics of echocardiography in male patients with coronary heart disease(CHD)complicated with syphilis.Methods 32 male patients with a history of syphilis infection or confirmed syphilis complicated with CHD admitted to Hanchuan People′s Hospital from March 2017 to July 2019 were included in the CHD with syphilis group.64 male patients with simple CHD who were hospitalized in Hanchuan People′s Hospital during the same period were included in the CHD group.Echocardiography was performed in both groups.The aortic root diameter,ascending aorta diameter,aortic regurgitation and aortic calcification were compared between the two groups.Results The incidences of aortic calcification and aortic regurgitation in the CHD with syphilis group were significantly higher than those in the CHD group,and the diameter of ascending aorta was significantly larger than that in the CHD group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in aortic root diameter between the two groups(P>0.05).There was no significant difference in cardiac ultrasound correlation index between the two subgroups(P>0.05).Conclusions Men with CHD complicated with syphilis are at increased risk of aortic calcification,aortic regurgitation,and enlarged diameter of the ascending aorta,and should be closely monitored.
