Abstract:
Objective To study the relationship between plasma homocysteine level and intracranial and extracranial arterial stenosis in young and middle-aged patients with transient ischemic attack(TIA). Methods Total 85 patients with TIA were checked by DSA.Their plasma homocysteine level were detected by using automatic biochemical analyzer by enzymatic cycle detection.To analyze the correlation between their homocysteine(Hcy) level and intracranial and extracranial arterial stenosis. Results Mean plasma Hcy concentrations 18.51(14.69 ~25.63)μmol/L were significantly higher in patients with intracranial arterial stenosis than that in the patients with no arterial stenosis 12.60(9.8~15.20)μmol/L(P <0.05).There was no significant difference in the concentrations of plasma Hcy between the patients with the intemal carotid arteries(ICA) sterosis and no arterial sterosis. Conclusion The plasma homocysteine level was positively correlated to intracranial arterial stenosis in young and middle-aged patients with TIA.
