Abstract:Objective To explore the best English training model for new nurses, and to equip with nurses practical and comprehensive English for clinical nursing work.Methods Eighty-one new nurses recruited in 2007 were assigned to an observation group, and 53 new nurses recruited in 2004 to a control group. The stratified and small-class teaching and double teaching method were used in the observation group, while the traditional teaching method was used in the control group.Results The scores of oral test and paper test were significantly higher in the observation group than those in the control group (P<0.01 for all); Totally 75.30% and 71.60% new nurses in the observation group felt that the training had promoted their English level and interest to a large extent.Conclusion The innovation of English training model can effectively promote new nurses′ English level and enhance learning interest.
