| Abstract: | A recent phase I trial of an encapsulated cell therapy device that delivers ciliary neurotrophic factor has shown the potential of this approach in the treatment of retinitis pigmentosa. As experience with this device is gained, other retinal degenerative disorders may be potential targets of a similar therapeutic approach. |
