苦瓜的入药历史悠久，其根、茎、叶、花，尤其是果实和种子的提取物具有显著的药理活性。苦瓜皂（甾）苷作为苦瓜中的活性成分，具有显著的降血糖作用。通过查阅整理苦瓜近10年的国内外研究文献，综述了有关苦瓜皂（甾）苷现代药学和降血糖作用的研究进展，为其进一步的开发利用提供科学依据。
