Correlation study of personality characteristics and mental health status of chronic hepatitis B patients

Objective Toexplore the correlation between personality characteristics and mental health status of chronic hepatitis t3 （CHB） patients in order to provide basis for instituting effective mental intervention measures. Methods Fifty CHB patients were assigned to research group and 50 non-CHB ones hospitalized in the same hospital in the corresponding period to control group, assessments carried out with the Self-made General State of Health Questionnaire （SGSHQ） and the Eysenck Personality Questionaire （EPQ）. Results There were no significant differences in general information between the CHB and nonCHB group （P〉0.05）. There were significant differences in psychoticism, neuroticism and lies score between the two group （P〈0.05 or 0.01） ; in research group the psychoticism score was significantly posi- tively related to CHB severity （P〈0.01）. Conclusion Personality characteristics of CHB patients are related to CHB development and severity.
