| Abstract: | In this paper,we not only measured fasting serum gastrin and fasting serum Carcino Embryonic Antigens (CEA) in patients with colorectal cancer,but also analysed the correlation between above two serum markers.Results:(1) Serum gastrin and serum CEA for the patients were significantly higher than those for normal control.(2) There was a very strong positive correlation between gastrin and CEA in patients with colorectal cancer(r=0.539 7 ,P<0.02).Conclusion:Abnormally high serum gastrin shows such a trophic action to colorectal cancer that the ability of synthesis and secretion for CEA from cancer cell is enhanced, which leading to high serum CEA.Therefore, the positive correlation between serum gastrin and serum CEA might be defined as an indirect causality. |
