A study of several hundred visual fields ofpatients with pathologic lesions at the chiasmalregion in some temporal fields demonstrates akind of paracentral hemicircular (PCHC) bundlescotoma which was not connected with the blindspot. The particular pattern of these scotomasprompts the authors to advance a new concepton the chiasmal architecture and its projectionon the retina. That is each paracentral fiberbundle on the retina divides into differentdistricts, the fibers from the corresponding dis-tricts of each bundle weave compactly into theexact lamella in the chiasma, and with this pre-sumed fiber arrangement, there is the result.antappearance of PCHC bundle scotoma. |
