Abstract:Objective To explore the mediating role of job satisfaction between professional value and work performance of nurses by structural equation modeling. Methods Cross-sectional status study were used, 548 front-line in-service nurses from 6 hospitals in Shaanxi province from September to December 2018 were selected as the research objects by convenient sampling. Nurses professional values scale-revised(NPVS-R), nurse’s job satisfaction scale(NJSS) and the six dimension scale of nursing performance(6-D) were used to study and analyze their correlation. Results The score of nurses’ professional value was(92.14 ±15.74) points, job satisfaction score was(48.87 ±9.24) points, and job performance score was(141.47 ±25.61) points. Nurses’ professional value was positively correlated with job satisfaction and work performance, and job satisfaction was also positively correlated with work performance(P <0.01). The structural equation modeling showed that the direct path professional value had a direct positive predictive effect on work performance, and the standardized path coefficient was 0.37;indirect path professional value indirectly predicted work performance through job satisfaction, and the standardized path coefficient was 0.18. Nurses’ job satisfaction played a mediating role between professional value and work performance.Conclusion Nursing manager should pay attention to improve the level of professional value of nurses, so as to improve job satisfaction and work performance.
