Correlation factors of first-time homosexual behavior and willingness among young men who have sex with men

Objective To understand the status of the first homosexual behavior in young men who have sex with men(YMSM)and analyze the related factors of willingness to first homosexual behaviors.Methods YMSM were recruited in Mianyang from September 2016 to September 2019 using the"snowball"sampling method,and the first questionnaire survey was conducted on their same-sex sexual behavior status and related factors.Results A total of 344 valid questionnaires were collected,among which the average age of the first homosexual behavior was(18.1±2.0).During the first homosexual behavior,89.0%of them were voluntary,71.8%were psychologically prepared,42.6%were aware of the risk of human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)infection,and 75.6%of them used condoms.The reason for not using condoms was that they did not know the necessity.The multivariate analysis results are as follows:those who have more than 10 friends in the community,or who have been diagnosed with sexually transmitted diseases in the past year,or who have more than two sex partners in the past six months,are more likely to have involuntary homosexual behavior for the first time.People with protected anal sex in the last six months were less likely to have first homosexual behavior involuntarily(P<0.05).Conclusions The trend of the first homosexual behavior in YMSM was ahead of schedule,and the safety awareness was poor.Involuntary first homosexual behavior increased the risk of high-risk sexual behavior and HIV infection.It is necessary to enhance the early adolescent sex education.
