Abstract:In recent years, the severe respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic has posed a threat to human health. Studies have shown that SARS-CoV-2 has a potential effect on human fertility, and the effect on male fertility was much more than that on female fertility. Current researches have suggested that SARS-CoV-2 vaccination may not adversely affect fertility in humans. It is unclear whether SARS-CoV-2 infection can be transmitted sexually, vertically or from mother to child, and thus affect the next generation. It is necessary to explore the effects of SARS-CoV-2 and its vaccine on fertility from the perspectives of reproductive medicine and infectious diseases, and to discuss the possible sexual transmission, vertical transmission and mother-to-child transmission, so as to improve the understanding of SARS-CoV-2 and its vaccine.
