Effect of atorvastatin on carotid atherosclerotic plaque in patients with cerebral infarction

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of atorvastatin in the treatment of carotid atherosclerotic plaque in patients with cerebral infarction.Methods 60 patients with cerebral infarction in our hospital from July 2016 to July 2018 were randomly divided into two groups.32 patients were included in the experimental group,and 28 patients were included in the control group.Both groups were treated with conventional methods,the experimental group was given atorvastatin drug treatment on this basis.The the changes of blood lipid index and carotid atherosclerotic plaque area and thickness were observed before and after treatment.Results Before treatment,there were no significant differences in TC,TG,LDL,and HDL between the two groups.After 3 months of treatment,the TC,TG and LDL values were decreased in two groups,the HDL value were increased,the TC,TG,LDL in the experimental group were lower than that in the control group,the HDL in the experimental group was higher than that in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in plaque area and plaque thickness between the two groups before treatment.After treatment,the plaque area and plaque thickness of the two groups were decreased,the experimental group was lower than the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Atorvastatin can improve the carotid atherosclerotic plaque in patients with carotid atherosclerotic plaque cerebral infarction,and the plaque stability is greatly enhanced,which effectively controls the disease and reduces the mortality rate.
