| Abstract: | In order to prevent aspiration pneumonia induced by aspiration of gastric contents during general anesthesia, patients were fasted routinely before they undergo elective operation. However, the traditional standard of preoperative fasting has been questioned in recent years. This article reviewed the history, status quo, and research progress of preoperative fasting in patients undergoing time-elective operation. |
