Weight,body mass index,Rohrer index ande skinfold thickness were assessed in 110 pairs of like-sex twins (75monozygotic and 35 dizygotic) aged 8-13years. Three twin methods estimated a high heritability for body fatness indicators(0. 62-0. 83). These results are similar to those of other twin studies of the variables and suggest that body fatness in children is under substantial genetic control. There are appreciable differences in heritability between limb and trunk. Compared with the limb's,the trunk fatness is more genetically controlled. |
