Application of periodontal endoscope in the treatment of early oral peri-implantitis

Abstract:
Objective:To assess the effectiveness of periodontal endoscope in the treatment of early peri-implantitis.Methods:60 patients with peri-implantitis were randomly divided into endoscope-assisted group and conventional group according to random number table,with 30 cases in each group.Endoscope-assisted group received ultrasound and subgingival scaling with manual apparatus by using periodontal endoscope,and conventional group adopted conventional method to conduct ultrasound and subgingival scaling with manual apparatus.The plaque index(PLI),gingival index(GI)and probing depth(PD)of two groups before treatment and at 3th months after treatment were analyzed and compared.The obtained data were statistically analyzed by using SPSS26.0.Results:In the 3th month after treatment,the PLI,GI and periodontal PD both of two groups were improved.The means of PLI differences between pre and post treatment were(1.23±0.77)and(0.70±0.84)in endoscope-assisted group and conventional group,respectively.The means of GI differences between pre and post treatment were(1.27±1.05)and(0.63±0.81)in the two groups,respectively.The means of PD differences between pre and post treatment were(1.57±1.01)and(0.87±0.97)in the two groups,respectively.As the data of PLI,GI and periodontal PD,the treatment effects of endoscope-assisted group were significantly better than those of conventional group in treating peri-implantitis(t=2.563,t=2.620,t=2.739,P<0.05).Conclusion:For the nonsurgical treatment of early peri-implantitis,the use of the assistant of periodontal endoscope can improve the curative effect,which is worth popularizing in clinical application.
