| Abstract: | Disc perforation(DP)is one of the late symptoms of temporomandibular joint disorders,which is closely related to intra-articular structural disorders and condylar arthropathy.It mainly manifests as pain in the joint area and limited mouth opening,and even lead to maxillofacial deformity.The diagnosis of DP is challenging because of the similarity of symptoms and the structural complexity of the joints.MRI is widely used in clinical imaging of temporomandibular joint and may be a simple and effective method to identify DP.Conservative,minimally invasive,and open surgery can be used depending on the course,symptoms,and severity of the lesion.The development of tissue engineering technology in recent years has provided new restorative ideas.This article reviewed the characteristics,development,diagnosis and treatment of articular disc perforation in order to provide a reference for clinicians. |
