Abstract:AIM To study the possible role of Calbindin D28k (CaBP) in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease (PD). METHODS 1 methyl 4 phenyl 1, 2, 3, 6 tetrahydropyridine (MPTP) was intraperitoneally injected into C57BL mice to establish PD mice model. Reverse transcription PCR and in situ hybridization were used to detect the expression changes of CaBP mRNA in the brain of PD and control mice. RESULTS Compared to control mice, there was a significant decrease in CaBP mRNA levels in hippocampus,striatum and substantia nigra in PD mice. CONCLUSION CaBP may play a protective role for some neurons against the pathogenesis process responsible for PD.
