| Abstract: | Hyperemesis gravidarum is seen as the most serious form of vomiting during pregnancy. It was described in the medical literature in the 18th century as a cause of maternal death due to starvation, a not uncommon event until the 20th century. Nowadays maternal death is unusual. |
