| Abstract: | Objective To evaluate the effects of the standard operation procedures of tube feeding on medication errors and tube feeding complications in the general department of geriatrics.Methods The in-patients with tube feeding from January to June and from July to December in 2019 were included in the control group and the treatment group,respectively.Methods for the treatment group were to establish the standard operation procedures of tube feeding,including but not limited to drug administration,flushing tube and the prevention and treatment of diarrhea.The percentage of irrational medical orders,tube occlusion rate and diarrhea rate were compared before and after the intervention.Results The percentage of irrational medical orders of tube feeding in the general department of geriatrics decreased significantly from 19.35%to 7.89%(P<0.05).The clinical tube occlusion rate decreased significantly from 14.55%to 5.77%(P<0.05).The incidence of diarrhea decreased significantly from 11.82%to 3.85%(P<0.05).Conclusion The establishment of standardized procedures for tube feeding,tube occlusion,and diarrhea is helpful to reduce medication errors and tube feeding complications. |
