Objective To study the molecular evolution of enterovirus 71(EV71) isolated from the clinical specimens of hand,foot and mouth disease(HFMD) patients in Guangxi in 2008. Methods EV71 strains were isolated from the clinical samples collected from HFMD cases in Guangxi in 2008.The VP1 coding sequence of EV71 was amplified by RT-PCR,and phylogenetic tree was constructed among Guangxi EV71 isolates and other EV71 representative strains of known genotypes and subgenotypes.
