Effects of Very Early Intra-arterial Thrombolytic Therapy for Patients with Acute Cerebral Infarction

Objective: To explore the effects of very early intra-arterial thrombolytic therapy for patients with acute cerebral infarction.Methods: Forty patients with acute cerebral infarction were treated with very early intra-arterial thrombolytic therapy.The motor ability was assessed by Fugl-Meyer assessment(FMA) and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS) at beginning and 72 h post operation.The activities of daily living(ADL) were assessed by Barthel Index(BI) at beginning and 72 h post operation.The revascularization was detected by digital subraction angiography(DSA) during and 48 h post operation.Results: Out of the 40 cases,27 had revascularization(67.5%).The FMA and BI scores were increased and NIHSS scores were decreased post-thrombolysis(P<0.05).The revascularization rate in patients treated with thrombolysis 0.5~3.0 h after onsets was significantly higher than that in patients treated 3.0~24.0 after onsets.Conclusion: Very early intra-arterial thrombolytic therapy is safe and effective.The earlier patients receive intra-arterial thrombolytic therapy,the better the prognosis is.
