Abstract: | Chemotherapy is often utilized in the treatment of patients with metastatic testicular germ cell tumors. However, assessment of post-chemotherapeutic specimens in this setting, mostly in the form of retroperitoneal lymph node dissection, can be challenging. This review will address common challenges with interpretation of post-chemotherapy resections, including florid reactions that mimic persistent tumor, the common over-interpretation of atypia in teratomatous elements, and almost unique neoplastic entities in this context (yolk sac tumor variants, rare trophoblastic tumors, and secondary somatic-type malignancies). |
