Abstract:
lt was found that cold injury in rats acclimated to hypoxia was more severe than that innonacclimated ones,In order to go into the cause further, the changes of hemorrheological behaviour ofrats pre-and post- frostbite in normoxia(FN),acute hypoxia(FAH)and hypoxic acclimation (FHAC)groups were observed. The rats in FHAC group were exposed to simulated high altitude for four weeks. Then the hind-feet of rats in all three groups were frozen to form severe frostbite.Blood samples usedfor the determination of hemorrheological parameters were withdrawn by cardiac puncture. The resultsindicated that before frostbite,RBC hematocrit, blood viscosity, index of RBC aggregation and RBChardness in rats of FHAC group were obviously higher and index of RBC deformation was lower thanthat in FN and FAH groups. In all groups, these parameters altered after frostbite as compared withthemselves before frostbite, At 24 h post-frostbite,the blood viscosity increased by 35.9%,29.0%,162.8%(P<0.05)and the index of RBC aggregation increased by 31.6%,117.5%and 166.3%(P<0.05) respectively in FN,FAH and FHAC group. It is suggested that the more severe change in hemor-rheological behaviour of rats acclimated to hypoxia may be one of the factors leading to more severedamage of frostbite tissue in rats acclimated to hypoxia.
