Assessment of Malingering and Exaggeration in the Patients Involved Head Injury Litigation

Malingering and exaggeration of intellectu al impairments are common in personal injury cases involved in litigation.T he patients usually present clinically with a history of traumatic head injury,and even with objective evidences for organic brain damage,which render it difficult to discern the possibility of malingering.In our country,there has been a lack of effective and objective strategies for the evaluation of feigned intellectual deficits.The authou reviewed the relevant literaures published in r ecent years,with particular emphasis on neuropsychological approach to assessmen t of malingering.New directions for local research in this important area were s uggested.
