Treatment of the fractures of the distal radius by ORIF with palmar PC-fix

Objective: To explore the clinical efficacy and safety in the treatment of the fractures of the distal radius by ORIF with palmar PC-fix.Methods: The clinical data of 65 fracture cases of distal radius from May,2006 to June,2010 were analyzed.All of which used the ORIF with palmar PC-fix technique.Results: All the 65 patients were followed up through 8 to 18 months,an average of 12 months.In all the fracture cases,complete union was accomplished after operation.There was no loosening and rupture of the eternal fixation,no infection,no carpal tunnel syndrome.Based on the Dienst Wrist Rating System,we got 44 excellent,18 good and 3 fair cases.95.4% had better clinical efficacy.Conclusion: The ORIF with palmar PC-fix technique is an ideal treatment of the fractures of the distal radius,and volar approach can avoid the hamstring interference from steel plates.
