Comparison on Mental Health States of Freshmen of Bohai University

Objective To compare the differences of mental health states of freshmen who entered in Bohai University from 2007 to 2010.Methods The Symptom Checklist-90 was used to investigate the four years freshmen,and the indicator d of effect size was used to determine the difference.Results There were not significant differences between the scores of five factors,namely somatization（-0.20d-0.01）,interpersonal sensitivity（0.03d0.15）,depression（-0.10d0.00）,hostility（-0.09d0.09）,paranoid ideation（0.06d0.19）,and the norm.The mediate differences between other factors（i.e.,obsessive-compulsive（0.25d0.34）,anxiety（0.26d0.34）,photic anxiety（0.28d0.34）,and psychoticism（0.25d0.40）） and the norm data were observed for all grades except 2007.Conclusion Along with the year increases,the mental health tends to decrease.
