The Monitoring of Blood Cyclosporine A Concentrations and Adverse Effects in Renal Transplant Patients

To observe the effective blood conentrations in varying times and adverse effects of cyclosporine A in renal transplant patients, the cyclosporine A concentration in blood were measured by fluorescence polarization immunoassay. The results showed that the therapeutic drug monitoring of cyclosporine A was extremely important to decrease the rejection episodes and toxic reactions. The adverse effects of cyclosporine A were usually concentration - dependent and responsive to concentration reduction. The commonest adverse effects were as follows: hypertrichosis(100.0% ), impaired kidney function (34.2% ), impaired liver function(39. 5% ), hypertension(15. 8% ), gingival hypertrophy(52.6% ), tremor (27. 6% ), polycythemia(3. 9% ), audition loss(1. 3% ).
