Research progress of Inflammasomes in Inflammatory Diseases
Abstract:
Inflammasomes have been found to be related to the progression of inflammatory diseases. Acting as the significant receptor and sensing element of the innate immune system, inflammasomes could be activated by infective microorganisms and substances, resulting in Caspase-1 activation and inflammatory responses. Recent studies have greatly contributed to our understanding of the mechanisms underlying between inflammasomes and inflammatory diseases by the activation of different inflammasomes. In addition, incresing evidence from animal models supports that inflammasomes are involved in the initiation and progression of many diseases, and these diseases have a dramatic impact on public health. Finally, recent studies have pointed out targeting inflammasomes as a potential therapeutic method in inflammatory diseases. Based on this, we will provide a review of these three aspects of inflammasomes in inflammatory diseases.
