Abstract:A translocation t(1;22)(p13;q13) was detected in a child with T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL). FISH studies showed that the breakpoint was located in the 5' part of the interleukin-2 receptor beta chain (IL2RB) locus, but could only be located distal to 1p13.3 on the partner chromosome. This is the first case of the IL2RB locus rearrangement in T-ALL. The localization of the breakpoint suggests that the chromosomal translocation results in deregulation of IL2RB expression.
