Clinical significance of non-tamponade hemostasis technique in functional endoscopic sinus surgery

Objective To investigate the application effect of non-tamponade hemostasis technique in functional endoscopic sinus surgery and its clinical significance for postoperative rapid recovery.Methods Eighty patients with chronic rhinosinusitis who underwent functional endoscopic sinus surgery in our hospital from January to October 2019 were selected as the research objects.Among them,42 patients were treated with tamponage for hemostasis and 38 with non-tamponade for hemostasis.Blood pressure,heart rate,and stress response indicators such as hemadrenaline and cortisol at 12 hours before surgery and at 24 hours after surgery were collected.Pain degree and sleep quality of the patients within 24 hours after surgery were evaluated by using pain visual analogue scale(VAS)and Richards-Cammpbell sleep questionnaire(RCSQ).The operation time and hospital stay of the patients were recorded.Results There was no significant difference in blood loss between the two groups(P>0.05).The operation time and postoperative VAS score were lower while the RCSQ score was higher in the non-tamponade hemostasis group than those in the tamponage hemostasis group(P<0.05).The systolic blood pressure,diastolic blood pressure,heart rate,and serum adrenaline and cortisol levels of the non-tamponade hemostasis group were lower than those of the tamponage hemostasis group after 24 h of operation(P<0.05).Spearman correlation analysis showed that postoperative RCSQ scores were correlated with serum adrenaline,cortisol,systolic blood pressure,diastolic blood pressure,heart rate and VAS score(P<0.05).Conclusion Hemostasis powder had the same hemostatic effect as tamponage hemostasis.However,it was more beneficial to reduce the postoperative pain and stress response.It also can improve the postoperative early sleep quality.Thus,it has a positive effect on improving medical comfort.
