Application of the competition in basic surgical skills and its effects in surgical teaching

In the teaching of general principles and basic skills of surgery,a competition in basic surgical skills was organized between medical students in groups.After integrating the preparation of competition with routine surgical training course,both teachers and students were inspired to improve themselves in their teaching,learning and practicing.The results of the competition and the final test,as well as the students' survey,showed that the competition was an effective way to enhance the students' basic surgical skills and improve the outcomes of their learning.
