Abstract: | Ten patients with type B fractures of the tibial plateau (according to the AO-classification) were treated by arthroscopically-assisted reduction, autologous bone grafting due to osseous defects and transcutaneous screw fixation. Concomitant intra-articular lesions were treated arthroscopically at the same time. We did not see any complications intra- or post-operatively and no secondary displacement of the fracture fragments. All patients gained full free motion in the operated knee. Considering the minimal soft tissue trauma, the diagnostic value, therapeutic options and good results, we regard arthroscopic minimally-invasive osteosynthesis as ideally suited for certain type B fractures of the tibial plateau. |
