Expression of HER2 in gastric carcinoma of Uygur in Kashi area in Xinjiang and relationship with clinicopathologic parameters

Objective： Purpose To study the expression of HER2 in gastric carcinoma of Uygur in Kashi area in Xinjiang, and to explore the relationship between HER2 expression and clinicopathologie parameters of gastric carcinoma. Methods： Expression of HER2 in 77 cases of gastric carcinoma of Uygur in Kashi area in Xinjiang was detected by EnVision immunohistoehemical technique. Results： The mean age of 77 cases of gastric carcinoma was 55 years old. Male female ra- tio was 3.27： 1. The positive rate of HER2 in gastric carcinoma was 23.4%. The level of HER2 1 ＋, HER2 2 ＋ and HER2 3 ＋ were measurable in 22.1% ,14.3% and 9.1%. Expression of HER2 protein was related to Lauren type, differ- entiation degree, lymph node metastasis and clinical stage （ P 〈 0.05 ）. The positive rates of HER2 in gastric carcinoma with intestinal type, moderately and well -differentiated , lymph node metastasis and In, Ⅳ stage were higher than those with diffuse type, poorly and undifferentiated, non - metastasis and Ⅰ ,ⅡI stage （ P 〈 0.05 ）. Expression of HER2 in gastrie carcinoma was unrelated with age, gender and tumour location （ P 〉 0.05 ）. Conclusion： There may be ethnic difference of HER2 protein expression in gastric carcinoma of Uygur compared to Han. Expression of HER2 protein was more common in intestinal type gastric carcinoma of Uygur which may predict the malignant biologic behaviors of gastric earcino- ma.
