Abstract: | Classification of shock according to the situation in which it presents is helpful in developing a diagnostic strategy. Some causes of shock are immediately apparent; others are less so. Diagnosis is part of a process of advanced first aid in which simultaneous assessment, resuscitation, monitoring and risk assessment should take place. Investigations should be targeted towards the clinical situation in which they take place. |
