Efficacy analysis of high-frequency ultrasound combined with CDFI in the diagnosis of acute epididymitis

Objective To explore the efficacy of high-frequency ultrasound combined with color Doppler flow imaging(CDFI)in the diagnosis of acute epididymitis.Methods The data of 160 patients with high-risk acute epididymitis admitted to Dazhou Central Hospital from March 2016 to June 2018 were analyzed retrospectively.All the patients were examined by high-frequency ultrasound and CDFI,and the disease was confirmed finally.The examination performance and results of high-frequency ultrasound and CDFI were summarized.Using the final diagnosis as thegold standard,the diagnostic efficacy of single high-frequency ultrasound,single CDFI,and high-frequency ultrasound combined with CDFI in acute epididymitis was compared.Results Among the 160 cases,56 cases were finally confirmed as acute epididymitis.Among them,50 cases and 52 cases were diagnosed as acute epididymitis by high-frequency ultrasound and CDFI respectively.Among the 104 cases without acute epididymitis,12 cases and 10 cases were diagnosed as acute epididymitis respectively by high-frequency ultrasound and CDFI.The main manifestations of high-frequency ultrasound in the diagnosis of acute epididymitis were local enlargement,limited enlargement of the tail of epididymis,small nodules and uneven echo intensity.The main manifestations of CDFI in the diagnosis of acute epididymitis were obvious blood flow signals in the lesion area,marked thickening of blood vessels,abundant blood flow signals in the tail of epididymis,and more short-line,spotted and basket-like blood flow signals in epididymis abscess.The specificity,accuracy and positive predictive value of high frequency ultrasound combined with CDFI in the diagnosis of acute epididymitis were 99.0%,95.0%and 98.0%,respectively.They were significantly higher than those diagnosed by high frequency ultrasound and CDFI alone.The sensitivity,negative predictive value and Yoden index were similar to those of single high frequency ultrasound and CDFI.Conclusions In the diagnosis of acute epididymitis,high-frequency ultrasound and CDFI have typical characteristics.The specificity,accuracy and positive predictive value of high-frequency ultrasound combined with CDFI in the diagnosis of acute epididymitis are high with ideal efficacy,which is worth learning.
