Visual atlas analysis on documents of traditional Chinese and Western medicine for treatment of spastic cerebral palsy based on CiteSpace bibliometrics

Objective To display and analyze the research status, research hotspots and cutting edge of Chinese and English literature on the treatment of spastic cerebral palsy (SCP) based on CiteSpace, and to further analyze the differences between Chinese and Western medicine treatment strategies, and to provide reference for the innovative diagnosis and treatment of SCP. Methods The Web of Science core collection database and CNKI database were used as the search objects, and the literature related to the study of SCP published so far was included. CiteSpace was used to visually analyze the number of articles, co-occurrence networks and keywords. And combined with the content of the map to interpret the meaning behind it. Results Lin Xu and Gordon were the authors with the highest volume of publications in Chinese and English, respectively. Featured traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) journals and universities had published a relatively high volume of papers, but they had a late start time, less research volume, and low frequency of cooperation compared with foreign countries. The main research content was the incidence of SCP population, clinical classification, Chinese medicine compatibility and prescription analysis, Chinese medicine therapy, medicine and surgical treatment and its efficacy investigation. The treatment strategy of Chinese medicine was to use acupuncture, massage and Chinese medicine to help patients recover, and the treatment strategy of western medicine was to treat spastic cerebral palsy through surgery and drugs. Conclusion The treatment strategies of traditional Chinese and Western medicine for spastic cerebral palsy are quite different. Focusing on early intervention of SCP and the research of acupuncture and massage combined with induced exercise therapy is the future development direction. Innovative development of traditional Chinese and Western medicine and new treatment methods should be developed.
