Investigation on the knowledge,attitude and practice of wild mushroom consumption in Guizhou

Objective To investigate the knowledge, attitude and behavior (KAP) of wild mushroom consumption in some people in Guizhou Province, to analyze the influencing factors, and to provide technical support for the prevention and control of poisonous mushroom poisoning in Guizhou Province. Methods Using a stratified random sampling, the investigation on poisonous mushroom poisoning in 88 counties (districts) of Guizhou Province was conducted by means of paper-based questionnaires and WeChat questionnaires star, and Chi-square test were employed to analyze the collected data. Results Of the 10 106 respondents, the consumption rate of wild mushrooms was 55.04%, and only 27.09% of the respondents were aware of the types of poisonous wild mushrooms in Guizhou Province. Respondents of different genders, different residences, and different levels of culture were statistically different in their knowledge of the problem of distinguishing between poisonous mushroom and edible wild mushroom (x²=147.666, P<0.001; x²=85.148, P<0.001; x²=9.290, P<0.05). Conclusion More than half of the respondents have eaten wild mushrooms and have some knowledge of wild mushrooms, and the knowledge, attitude and behavior of eating wild mushrooms varies in different genders, different regions and different cultural levels.
